Renewed for 2018! Announcement: Pool Amenity thru partnership with Matthews Tennis & Swim Club

** February 1 2018: Partnership renewed for 2018 **
As mentioned late last year, the survey results were overwhelmingly positive with this partnered amenity.  The Board has voted to renew this for 2018 with no increase to the HOA dues - Pool opens in late May so get your Pool Registration form submitted.  Yes, due to the nature of the eligibility rules (i.e., HOA account paid current), everyone must submit a new form for 2018, even if you submitted one for 2017 and nothing has changed.  Renters are eligible, either have your property owner submit the form for you or submit it yourself with a note of the owner information should there be any need to contact them for account issues.  Same as last year, as soon as eligibility is confirmed and we have the operating hours, you will receive a notification from the HOA.  Keep attuned via our Facebook Closed Group and NextDoor Private Group for the most up to date communications.

Dear Matthews Grove Homeowner/Resident,

your HOA Board of Directors is happy to announce that we've added an amenity (pool) thru partnership with Matthews Tennis & Swim Club - 2210 Pleasant Plains Road.  This Pool-only Membership for the upcoming 2017 summer pool season (Memorial Day thru Labor Day) is extended to all HOA Members in good standing.  This partnership helps to bridge a gap in our amenities package and attractiveness to the neighborhood at an incredibly economical value.  Please note that there is no impact to HOA dues for this year and provides a great value for our HOA.

This partnership will be evaluated at the end of this year's season, (~mid/late-September) so that both parties can assess any desired/needed adjustments for continuation of the partnership as well as budgetary requirements for 2018.  Until that time, it will be important to know that goal is a mutually beneficial partnership and the Board is very cognizant of the desire to keep the value in mind without increasing HOA dues.  A date is being coordinated for a Meet & Greet date in the coming weeks.  Included in the partnership:

  • Pool-only Membership to all HOA Members in good standing.  Any member wishing to take advantage of this Pool-only Membership must complete a Matthews Tennis & Swim Club's Application for Membership adding a note that you are a member of the Matthews Grove HOA.  Once you've completed the application, drop it off at a Board Members home or scan/snap a picture & email your application to MatthewsGroveHOA@gmail.com to get the process started as well.  (**Please note that applications must be processed prior to first use of pool so get them in as early as possible.**)
  • MThe Club's clubhouse & patio are available for six HOA-sponsored events (i.e., HOA Meetings or Block Parties) this year.
  • Each HOA Member is eligible for a discount of full club membership - HOA Members can purchase a full membership for the monthly rate of $85 per family / $70 per individual.
  • Pool-only Membership DOES NOT include use of the Tennis facilities, however, HOA Members can participate in special club activities at the going rate - contact a Matthews Grove HOA Board Member for more details.  Such activities include:
    • Junior Academy (tennis)
    • Adult Clinics (tennis)
    • Beginner Adult Clinics (tennis)
    • Cardio Tennis
    • Serve & Return Classes
    • Private Lessons (tennis &/or swim)
    • Summer Camps
    • League Play
  • HOA Members can rent the Clubhouse/Patio facility at the going rate.

Here are some highlights of the Survey conducted in late February: we had a total of 66-responses with a resounding 74% in favor of this partnership and said they would utilize the pool and/or club membership - 12% were Neutral & only 14% were against.  To respond to a few of the common concerns, HOA Dues WILL NOT increase as a result of this partnership.  The Board recognizes this and will keep the value in mind as the partnership is evaluated for future continuation.  It should also be noted that the reason dues are not impacted by this partnership is a direct result of the current Board's initiative to transfer Street Light Billing to the City of Charlotte - an initiative begun in September of last year and becoming a reality with the April billing.

We encourage all HOA Members to join us at the Meet & Greet in the next couple/few weeks and certainly hope that you will consider visiting the pool when it is open for the season and send us your feedback for the year-end evaluation.

Thanks,
Matthews Grove HOA Board of Directors
